Rigid body in a machine which moves relative to another rigid body is called kinematic link. Rigid bodies are those that doesn't under go deformation.

Links are classified according to it capacity of getting connected to other links. Links that can be connected with another one link is called as Uni-link. Links that can be connected with two more links are called as binary link, with three more it is called as ternary link, with four more called as quandary link...as it goes on.
